Capitol Raceway now running
their 7th OPS race of the season, seen its 1st car count over 8 with 11 cars
trying to make the quick 8 field. Now I know I jumped from 5th to the 7th race
but time some time don't work the way we want it to, But then many of the OPS drivers
know what I am talking about with their cars still apart and their racing
buddy's out have all the fun. Capitol Raceway has shown they want the OPS show to work out this year and have stuck with it through the thin times with many nay Sayers talking there trash about the track and the show. But every other week Capitol raceway has put up the money for the drivers to run for and has NOT cut the payout back 1 time this year for poor car count. Now with all that said along comes a group of guys with Drag radial cars who want to race as well. Capitol gave them a test drive last week and seen that this group wants to race even with the over cast skies the D/R cars showed with an ok number. The word is they will be back again. Now for the Friday Night Party. 6:30 rolls around fast and OPS are called to the lanes. Many cars rushing to get ready for the 1st pass, Time being tight many drivers did not have time to inspect the track and see if they had there setup right. But all went went well sorry no stats for time runs I am working on that. So let's get right to the main show. Round 1 The calls goes out for OPS to come to lanes 5&6 as they wait for the OPS cars to get ready the track crew preps the track and the 1st pair pull in to the box. James Houston and Richie Stine light the tires as they bring their cars to the line. Richie was a little slow to hit the hammer with .526 and James with .489 and James hold the lead from tree to the line with an ET of 5.130 at 139.23 MPH over Richie's 5.522 at 128.52 MPH. Keep at it Richie was good to see you out running with the OPS. The next pair out was Keith Brandt and Henry Nooft. Henry had his turn with slow reaction time with .562 and Keith taken the tree and the race with an ET of 5.292 at 135.59 over Henry's 5.379 at 136.33 MPH. This was a great race to watch. Better luck next time Henry. The Next Pair out brings you The Kid JJ Rodgers and a new comer to Capitol Tink Liptrap. The kids show his speed on the tree with .433 and never looked back Tink pulls a 4.85 light but just cant keep up with JJ who takes the win with an ET 5.230 at 137.89 MPH over Tink's 132.26 MPH. The last pair in the quick 8 was Dave Tolley and Scott Bitzer another new Comer to Capitol as Dave and Scott take the line its Scott who takes the tree with an .438 and Dave takes time for a NAP with his .603 But the nap did Dave well and he put the power to the track and runs down Scott and takes the win with an ET of 5.116 at 139.86 MPH over Scott's 5.349 at 141.28 MPH. Scott come back and try again your speed was the 2nd fastest of the night. Round 2 James Houston and Keith Brandt are the 1st pair out for round 2. The air was cooling (but not much I was cooking standing up there all night) and the track seemed to be hooking so the show was going to be good. With the tires warmed up and the smoke clearing away the cars came to the line. The bulbs lit and the hammers down it was Keith who got the jump with a .429 over James's .461 but the small lead at the tree was not going to get it done James shot by and took the win with an ET 5.023 at 141.34 MPH over Keith's 5.325 at 138.53. James Houston would be in the final. Dave Tolley would make a single pass with JJ the Kid Rodgers unable to make the call. Dave left with a .518 and ran an ET of 5.092 at 140.88. The final was going to be a close on by the looks of things and many stuck around to see it. Dave Tolley 98 ford Mustang super charged 417 and James Houston's 64 Ford fairlane with a 351 and NOS. they come to the tree Ford on Ford Nos VS Super Charger and James cuts down the tree with .410 over Dave's .492 the OPS 10.5 dance was on both drivers putting to the track but its James who would take the win with an ET of 5.033 at 141.50 MPH over Dave's 5.083 at 140.94 MPH and close it was Great race guys. |
There should be a winner's Picture here but James drove away two races in a row now. |
