.The Friday night Party came alive at capitol raceway on May 4th when the 3rd OPS
race of 2007 racing season took to the track... Even with a light car count the
show had the fans on their feet with some great heads up racing, After some great Qualifying runs, Round 1 was under way with the first pair of cars to take to the starting line James Houston with his 64 ford and Henry Nooft with his 72 blown Vega. Henry left the 1st with a reaction time of .529 turning 5.603 at 131.33 MPH was not enough to hold of James with a reaction time of .556 turning 5.003 at 142.67 MPH The 2nd pair out was Chris Butler with his 89 Camaro and Keith Brandt with his 68 Camaro. Chris Butler takes the light with a .553 with an ET of 5.122 at 146.57 MPH and Keith Brandt Broke. Keith Sexton taking the wheel of the 69 Camaro out of the Goo mobley stable, the same 69 Camaro that his Dad Richard drove for Goo. This being Keith's 1st time behind the wheel so the Goo crew spent the day at capitol testing before the race this would later prove to pay off. Keith made his 1st round past on a by run with a Reaction time .440 and an ET 4.948 at 143.75 MPH. With the 1st round out of the way it was time to see who was on fire for the night The 1st pair out in the 2nd round where, Chris butler and James Houston. Chris got the jump at the tree with .469 with a ET of 4.935 at 148.44 MPH James slower at the tree with a .484 and was putting the power to when he got lose and had to lift turning a ET of 7.406 at 92.70 MPH. The 2nd pair out was Keith Sexton and Mark Love. Keith got the jump at the tree with a .433 with an ET of 5.022 at 142.67 MPH, Mark leaves with a .579 with an ET 5.697 At 92.70 Mark also got lose and had to lift. The final round was here and the Friday night party was more then ready for the show down with Keith Sexton and Chris Butler. Keith Sexton lines up in lane 1 and Chris Butler in lane 2. Camaro vs. Camaro both cars where owned by Goo Mobley at one time both cars have turned numbers in the mid 4 seconds but Keith being a new driver in a new car to him driving it for the 1st time that day. The smoke fly's and the heat is put in the tires the lights on the tree drop with Keith cutting the tree down with a .402 and Chris with a .449 both cars showing their power running side by side when Chris butler gets lose but holds on but left the gate open for Keith to take the win with an ET of 4.874 at 149.96 MPH and Chris finshed with an 4.886 at 138.46. |
