The 4th
OPS shoot out at Capitol raceway came to a end with the final being called off
because of the 11:00 curfew, due to a red mustang running T&T, engine exploded
in a fire ball in lane 1 leaving oil on the track and the clean up would take to
long. James Houston and Dave Tolley where in the lanes ready to run, what many
thought would have been an exciting door to door race that they never had a chance
to see. The car count is still low and talking with many of the drivers saying their car is still apart. This OPS fans says to the drives less TV and Beer and more work in the shop guys the season is well under way and your missing out on some great racing, and the fans want you back, so get it in gear put them cars back together and get out to the tracks and make some smoke and noise. Back to the race. Round 1 James Houston and a Driver I did not know and I did not get any stats from Capitol on this driver so we will just call him the unknown driver for now, James with a .547 at the tree and a ET of 4.986 at 141.65 MPH takes the win the unknown Driver sleeping at the tree with a .794 with an ET 5.951 at 90.01 MPH. The next 2 out where Keith Sexton and Henry Nooft. Keith gets the jump on the tree with the best reaction of the night with .432 with an ET of 4.889 at 150.08 MPH also the fastest run of the night, Takes the win over Henry who left the line slow .650 with ET of 5.533 at 130.45 MPH Henry's wild blown Vega took to hopping near the 120 ft mark. I talked with Henry after the race and he said this was some thing new and not sure what it was but he did say he would be ready for the next race in 2 weeks. The next pair out where Dave Tolley and Jeff Rodgers (not sure where THE KID JJ was) Dave takes the win with the 2nd best reaction time of the night with .462 with an ET of 5.039 at 140.96 MPH With Jeff's time .532 with an ET of 5.187 at 136.83 MPH. Round 2 left James Houston with the by run and he sat that run out in the pits. So Dave Tolley and Keith Sexton take the line. Keith took the win last week Racing the 69 Camaro out of the Goo mobley stable. With all eyes on him Keith creped up to the line with the bulbs lit looks as the car push forward and the big red eye came to life giving Dave the win. Keith's times: foul at tree with .218 ET 4.945 at 150.06 MPH Dave ran .603 at the tree with an ET of 5.134 at 133.80 MPH. Capitol will now run OPS ever other week with their Friday night Party so the next Race with be on Friday May 25th the Night before the 1st Street-Freaks OPS shoot out at Mason Dixon Dragway. The Friday night party will be a great chance to get your cars tuned and ready for that race. |
